Virtual reality as a tool to enhance leadership and teamwork skills in university students
Keywords:
virtual reality, leadership, collaboration, higher educationAbstract
This study conducts a systematic literature review to examine the role of virtual reality (VR) in simulating leadership and collaboration scenarios among higher education students. The research shows that VR is an innovative educational tool capable of creating immersive environments that promote the development of interpersonal and practical skills essential for today’s professional performance. Through virtual simulation, students can assume leadership roles, make decisions in complex contexts, and collaborate in safe settings, which strengthens their self-confidence and competence. The literature review also highlights that VR enhances student motivation and engagement, critical factors for effective and meaningful learning. However, important challenges related to teacher training, necessary technological infrastructure, and ethical aspects concerning privacy and responsible data use in virtual environments were identified. Addressing these issues is crucial to ensure successful and equitable implementation. Furthermore, future research is needed to evaluate the long-term effects of VR on the development of soft skills. In conclusion, virtual reality offers transformative potential in higher education by preparing leaders and collaborators better equipped to face the challenges of a globalized and dynamic professional world. Its integration into educational processes must be strategic, considering technical, pedagogical, and ethical factors to maximize benefits and contribute to the comprehensive training of students.
