Abstract

This study analyzes the current state of cyberintervention in Social Work in Ecuador, focusing on the adoption and use of digital technologies in both public and private institutions. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines in-depth interviews with professionals and quantitative surveys, the research identifies both opportunities and challenges faced by social workers in integrating ICT into their professional practice. The results reveal that, although there is a general recognition of the value of these tools for enhancing social care, their implementation remains fragmented and unequal, influenced by factors such as lack of training, insufficient technological infrastructure, and the absence of clear policies. Significant gaps are also evident between private and public institutions, as well as between urban and rural areas, reflecting socioeconomic and geographic disparities. Ethical concerns related to data privacy and security in digital environments are also highlighted. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the use of cyberintervention, yet structured and sustainable models are still needed to ensure equity and effectiveness in service delivery. The study concludes that, to enhance the responsible use of ICT in Social Work in Ecuador, it is essential to strengthen professional training, implement inclusive policies, and improve technological infrastructure. These efforts will ensure that digitalization contributes to social justice and expands access to services for the most vulnerable populations. These findings provide a foundation for future research and the design of strategies that promote effective and equitable digital social intervention
